I have watched my fair share of gay themed movies.🏳️‍🌈 And frankly, most of them have been bad. A great many of them have no plot apart from the protagonists being gay. But there are some good ones out there too, and I am giving you a list of them.

Drama

Going down in LA-LA land

This movie is about a young gay man who moves to Hollywood to become an actor. Not finding a gig, he winds up working in the porn industry; first as an assistant, then as an actor and finally as an escort. Later he falls in love with an actor who has been hiding his sexuality from the media.

In this movie, I like the plot the most. The trick I always play with whichever gay themed movie I watch, is that I think to myself: could this movie work with straight protagonists. If the answer is yes, we have a proper gay themed movie. And this one falls into that category. 😄

King Cobra

King Cobra also takes place in the porn industry, but this time around, the plot is more complicated than that. A young man tries to find a new producer for his porn but gets blackmailed by the old producer. All this leads to a dramatic twist in the plot. The film is based on a true story which makes it even more exciting to watch. 😊

Pride

Pride is a bit different in this bunch. It has nothing to do with porn whatsoever, but rather it describes how a group of LGBT people stood up for the miners' rights back in the days in UK. The movie is fun to watch and I just adore their British accent! 😍

Comedy

The eating out series

There are a plethora of sequels for the first eating out movie. And all of them are great. Not at the level of a proper comedy film by a big studio, but rather entertaining to watch all the same. They have scenes reaching towards porn, so if you are not too into gay action, you'd better close your eyes. 😑

Hurricane Bianca

If you have ever watched RuPaul's Drag Race, you will see a lot of familiar faces on this movie. Even though the film has its shortcomings, it still doesn't fail to entertain you. It has some disney-movie-likeness to it. 😊

Conclusion

These are the gay themed movies I have down for you. I have watched way more of them than these five, but I wouldn't recommend any of them. Not even the "Oscar winning" Brokeback Mountain, that had no plot at all. Watch these, and skip the rest! 😀 You can also check out my gay songs playlist.
